About SRP
SRP is one of Arizona's largest electric utilities and water providers. It serves more than 800,000 residential, business and industrial customers with electric power throughout a 2,900-square-mile area in central Arizona.
The electric side of SRP is a political subdivision of the state of Arizona. SRP operates or participates in seven major power plants and numerous other generating stations in four states. With generating capacity of more than 7,035 megawatts, SRP is the nation's second-largest public power utility.
The water side of SRP is a private corporation, delivering more than 1 million acre-feet of water to a 240,000-acre service area in central Arizona. SRP maintains and operates dams, groundwater wells, and canals that carry water to municipal, agricultural and urban irrigators.
SRP is committed to environmental excellence in all operations. It has numerous environmental programs and recently was honored by the Environmental Protection Agency for its "demonstrated commitment and significant contributions to the environment" in Arizona.
In addition, SRP has a longstanding reputation as an outstanding corporate citizen, helping the communities it serves through volunteerism and corporate donations. During fiscal year 2004, SRP corporate contributions to nonprofit agencies and programs totaled $2.3 million, and SRP employees, together with friends and family, logged more than 700,000 volunteer hours during the year.
